What is the difference between boxed sets and grow blocks?
Both products contain the same 2.2kg growing block, but the sets also come with a gift box and a spray bottle, so they're ideal for giving as a gift.
Additionally, the varieties available in boxed kits are recommended for beginners, while you can also find more advanced varieties in grow blocks. Some of these will not grow well on a kitchen counter, they need a controlled environment. For best results, we recommend using a grow room or grow tent. If you don’t have the ability to control the temperature, choose a block that is suitable for your climate!
When growing on the kitchen counter, using grow blocks is just as easy as using boxed kits.
For detailed information, please read the Production block guide page, where you will find descriptions and tips for each variety. If you have any further questions, please read the Frequently Asked Questions page or write to us by email.
How many mushrooms will it produce?
Our production blocks are commercial sized. These 2.2 kg blocks will yield an average of 400–600 g of fresh mushrooms during the first harvest under ideal conditions.
Yield is significantly influenced by growing conditions, so please pay attention to the recommended environment for the given mushroom species, as well as the Product block in the guide as described to avoid disappointment.
There are of course differences between individual mushroom species – for example, some oyster mushrooms produce heavier fruiting bodies than other varieties – but with these large blocks you can definitely count on a nice, bountiful first harvest.
Since the blocks contain a high amount of nutrients, they can produce multiple crops. Typically, you can expect 2-3 crops, but if you are patient and persistent, you can even get more.
The first harvest is always the largest and fastest, but there can be a gap of up to several weeks between subsequent harvests.
Your first harvest is guaranteed by us!
If there has been no change 14 days after opening the block, send us a picture by email and we will help you, and if necessary, we will send you a new production block.
Extra tip: after a few harvests, the harvested block during the frost-free period It is worth placing it in a shady, protected place in the garden and keeping it moist. You can also place it shallowly in the ground and cover it with leaves or chopped straw. This „mushroom graveyard” can surprise you again with fresh mushrooms at the right temperature or after a heavy rain!
Sunrise on your plate
The golden oyster mushroom is native to East Asia. Its cap is thin and soft, slightly fragile, while its stem is thicker. It retains this duality even when cooked, its cap becomes crispy, while its stem remains meatier. Its flavor is mild, slightly sweet, reminiscent of cashews. It goes well with light, Mediterranean-style dishes, salads, pastas or side dishes.
Golden oyster mushrooms grow a little slower than other oyster mushrooms. They first form clumps, which will then develop into primordia, or baby mushrooms. Don't worry if you don't see much change for 5-7 days after opening, the mycelium is still working.
How was it made?
The heart of the kit is a straw growing block colonised with oyster mushroom mycelium. From an isolated mushroom culture, we first made a high-purity mushroom spawn on sterilized grain, then mixed it with chopped straw to create a growing block. Then we left the exciting part to you!
The mycelium that runs through the block is a living organism that - after digesting the available nutrients - is waiting for the right environmental conditions to form a fruiting body, the edible mushroom. The oxygen and moisture that come with opening the bag signal the mycelium that the time has come to grow mushrooms.
Guaranteed harvest
With regular and adequate moisture, our mushroom growing kits will produce reliably, up to 3-4 times. The first harvest is expected within 14 days of opening the bag.
Your first harvest is guaranteed by us!
If there is no change after 14 days of opening the kit, send us a picture by email and we will be happy to help, and if necessary, will send you a new kit free of charge.
Typically, each subsequent crop is slightly smaller than the previous one and appears after a longer period of time. It may take several weeks between each harvest, please be patient! How we recommend starting additional crops is explained in the Detailed User Manual .
A clever gift
Whether you want to please gourmets or hobby gardeners, the sight of mushrooms growing day by day can impress adults and children alike!
Warning: If you don't open it within a few days, refrigerate it!
Your kit contains a living organism, so we recommend that you open it and start spraying upon receipt. If you do not have the opportunity to do so, you can store it unopened in the refrigerator for up to 4 weeks. The metabolism of the mycelium slows down significantly during this time.
During prolonged storage or at room temperature, mold may start to grow inside the bag. This will not affect further use. If the mold is within reach under the area you cut, simply remove it.
A grow kit stored at room temperature for a long time will consume all available nutrients after a while and then it will slowly begin to decompose.

He got so used to our environment that when we were temporarily unable to take care of him (due to an accident), he still grew without water. The first dose also started very quickly.
